Funded Early Education Wrexham
Funded Early Education is the provision of statutory education for 3 year olds in the Non-Maintained Sector, usually in Cylchoedd Meithrin, Playgroups and Private Day Nurseries. All approved Funded Early Education settings are inspected by Estyn and CIW. Children are eligible the term after their 3rd birthday. All children in Wrexham are entitled to 10 hours of Funded Early Education each week. This is term time only. For children born in the Autumn term, a funded place will be provided for Spring and Summer. Children with Spring term birthdays will be entitled to a funded place for the Summer term.
The Funded Early Education team are qualified and experienced Early Years teachers who provide regular setting visits to monitor and support the delivery of Funded Early Education. We provide training and bespoke support to ensure all Funded Early Education setting practitioners have access to up to date information and have all the skills required to provide good quality education in the appropriate way.
A good quality enabling and stimulating learning environment - indoors and outdoors and caring, sensitive and enabling practitioners who facilitate children’s learning and development through play and holistic learning experiences are essential.
As of September 2022 all settings providing Funded Early Education must follow the Curriculum for Funded Non-Maintained Nursery Settings. The Curriculum for Funded Non-Maintained Nursery Settings is child centred. It recognises that each child is unique, is based on the principles of child development and supports holistic development and learning through play and playful experiences. It allows children time to explore, experiment, revisit, refine and reflect. Our aim is for all funded 3 year olds to be happy and having fun whilst developing all of the skills they will need to develop a lifelong love of learning.
